For reasons ranging from chromosomal abnormalities to early menopause, many women are unable to achieve pregnancy using their own eggs. Egg donors can make a miracle happen, offering you a chance to bear a child using a donated egg and in vitro fertilization. At Advanced Reproductive Concepts in Charlotte, North Carolina, we work with the Fairfax Egg Bank (based in the northern Virginia/Washington area) to maximize patients’ chances of finding the right egg donor to meet their needs. Call to set up your consultation with fertility specialist Dr. Mark Jutras today.
If you’ve found it impossible to conceive using your own eggs, you can turn to egg donation as a way to remain in control of your reproductive choices and achieve a successful pregnancy via in vitro fertilization.
The rigorous selection and screening process means you have the opportunity to choose a young, mentally and physically healthy donor based on her individual characteristics, knowing she has already been extensively tested for genetic and infectious diseases. The donor’s eggs have already been frozen, and a guaranteed cohort of six mature, vitrified eggs is transported to Advanced Reproductive Concepts whenever you are ready to begin in vitro fertilization. The process may result in more than one healthy embryo, so Advanced Reproductive Concepts can freeze the others in case you want another baby later on.
Advanced Reproductive Concepts partners with the Fairfax Egg Bank to maximize your chances of finding the perfect donor. They collaborate with five other centers around the country to collect eggs and accept only the highest quality egg donors after screening by a team of reproductive endocrinologists, geneticists, and genetic counselors.
In order to find the best match for you and your family, you’re able to review potential donors’ information, including:
We also accept egg donors on an individual basis at our clinic in Charlotte, North Carolina. If you prefer to work with a family member as a donor, we can help.
Egg donors are women under the age of 32 who are willing to undergo extensive screening and testing as well as the egg retrieval process. Fairfax Egg Bank maintains extremely high standards for donors, accepting less than 1% of applicants into its program.
Applicants undergo a rigorous psychological examination in order to assess their mental health. They also undergo a battery of physical tests to comply with recommendations from the FDA and medical bodies, including the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. These tests include full chromosome analysis and DNA testing for any genetic disposition toward diseases such as cystic fibrosis, Tay-Sachs, or Fragile X. Successful applicants have also demonstrated a genuine commitment to the program.
